Something horrible happened in Canada today

As I'm sure you've all heard by now, Military Reserve Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was murdered while standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, Ontario. The "weapon" these guards carrying with them are fake. They cannot be used to defend themselves with. Someone shot Cirillo at close range twice in the chest. He then fled the scene, hopped in a car and drove over to Parilment Hill where he managed to shoot a sercurity Guard before our Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers shot and killed him.

Just 2 days ago (Monday October 20th) a 'Lone Wolf' attack saw two military soilders run down by a car, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. One solider later died in hospital.

Now today: Wednesday October 22nd this happens.

I was at work when the news started to flood in (started about 9:54am) didn't hear about it until 12:30pm during my break. BUt had to wait till 2:30pm to find out any real news and see if friends in Ottawa were okay.

The Toronto Maple Leafs we in Ottawa for thier game tonight, of which understandably so, has been postponed. The team was in lockdown at their Hotel. The Downtown was in lockdown. All the schools in Ottawa were in lockdown. Still there are many places in lockdown.

I would like to focus on the victims in this, and not the murderers.

Patrice Vincent, 53 (Warrant Officer)
Nathan Cirillo, 24

Cirillo was just a year older then my cousin's son who is also a Military Reserve. It sure hits close to home, doesn't it?

Cirillo was "a reservist serving in Hamilton from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada regiment."
- joined cadets when he was 13
- loved country music
- had two German shepherds
- had a young son

This tweet I think represents the type of person Cirillo was:

That's all i got.

RIP & Godspeed
