Yes, very much so!!!
Getting this news "late". Paper and radio covering extensively. Tsunami watch up and down the BC coast. Special phone line set-up to help people contact/find out about family/friends in Japan.

you've got a tsunami warning; i've got a snowfall warning....
although my snow problems are nothing compared to Japan.
so after my shift at work... (power went out in almost all of the mall except The Bay, naturally, for at least 30mins halfway thru my shift) i was happy to hear from ppl in Japan, to know they were okay.
also thanks to twitter i'm aware of certain seiyuu being okay too. >___> stalker

BBC World NEws channel had much better coverage than CBC or CTV or Global. Was watching at lunch. Truly horrifying.
Yeah I don't have twitter or Facebook.
I think this is important enough that some stalking is allowed. Glad it's good news.
